Really good fishing this afternoon. Pretty consistent bite. Caught 11 and let one go to grow up some more. Great Family up for a few days of special time together. Nice to see Families with children in College making time for each other. Thanks for a great day on the water.
Our morning charter was a fun trip as always. Managed to put a couple of groups together to make for an enjoyable day on the water. The catching started off slow but then it got going as we like it. Came in with eleven and threw back a small trout that did not quite make the length to be a keeper. Great day and enjoyable company. Hope to see everyone out with us this Fall.
Great group of people up from Northern Indiana celebrating their first Anniversary – Congratulations. Turned out to be a busy day on-board Miryha. Once we started catching them it just did not stop. Caught 24 for 28 according to Tavis our new Captain. He counts better than I do. We threw back 3 small Kings – they were keepers but still needed to grow up some more. Steve, our long-term weekend first-mate, handled the fishing lines like the Pro he is and we enjoyed the beautiful day while catching all morning. The catch ended up with 17 Lake Trout and 4 Little Kings. One King ended up engulfed in the Large Trout’s Mouth as we were getting the fish ready for the photo shoot – so if your counting in the picture look real close in the large Laker’s mouth you might see a little tail. Had to remove it with a pair of pliers. The big two and three-year old kings will be here soon.
Take Care and Hope to See Everyone Out Fishing this Summer,
Capt Mike
Over the years we have acquired vast amounts of OPK (Other People’s Knowledge) and learned the best way to do things on a Lake Michigan Sport Fishing boat by the school of hard knocks; or, more appropriately, the school of the tangled mess. By the way, did you know that I am an expert at untangling knots. I have tried all sorts of variations and ideas over the years and have settled in with some of the best available methods. At least they are for me on my boat. I am always open to trying something new and realize that some methods may work better for some people than others. These videos are the culmination of years of experience and numerous days of fishing. There will be a number of topics discussed during this season. Look for new videos being posted every couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy them. If you have any topics that you would like to see discussed on a video, let us know and we can plan on doing one in the future.
For our first video, I thought this would be a good one for the Fishermen who are getting organized for the 2015 season. For me this time of year is all about getting all the details sorted out – engines in tip-top shape, boat cleaned and waxed, all equipment looked over and new line installed, all lures organized by color, etc…. Over the last 15 plus seasons of organizing lures, flies, and equipment I have tried numerous methods. This has become my best system for flies, add a lines, and sliders. Hope you enjoy the video and hope to see you out fishing with us this year.
Screaming Reels and Tight Lines,
Capt Mike
