Last trip of the year after weather cancels a few….

October is a tough weather month but can have great fishing.  As the Edmund Fitzgerald Song by Gordon Lightfoot says, “When the gales of November come early”.  It seems that History tends to repeat itself and we get too many ‘gale force winds’ in October.  As we have seen in years past we have customers eager to get in some more fishing before winter; however, it is hard to get out on the water.  This year we had four fishing trips scheduled and we went for two boat rides to check it out, the other two days were 6-8 and 8-10 foot waves.  Only one group decided to brave the weather in 2-4 foot waves that built to 4-6 footers just before we came in.  Great action but difficult getting the fish in the boat – the waves helped the fish out today.  Caught 2 Kings, 1 Lake Trout, and 1 Steelhead for this late season fishing trip. Last one for this year….time to start working on prepping the boat to come out of the water and getting the gear ready for next year!

Fish, cruise, wine and cheese…

4 Lake Trout, 4 Steelhead, 1 Lake Trout, and 1 King makes a good mix of fish from 130-150 FOW for a late summer fishing trip. Followed the fishing trip up with an evening cruise with the wives of the fishermen who joined us with a little wine and cheese to make the trip even more enjoyable!

A great Indian Summer Weekend allowed my Family some time on the water with the Waverunners and a great dune climb with the little guys.  Hope to have some more fishing weekends like this one.

September 7th and 9th….

On the 7th we fished deep and caught 4 kings. Can’t remember the last time one of our customers had such a great time just being on the water….catching fish was just a bonus!

The 9th we tried fishing a little closer in, working in front of the piers just before dark. Odd season in front of the pier, no salmon, but we did end up with a Sheepshead. Had 8 kings and 4 trout off shore before we went in; so, while no fish in front of the piers we still came in with a great chest of fish.
