Great Afternoon after a Busy Morning of Fishing Even Though the Captain was Worn Out and Tired!!

Well I may be getting older but I still can handle a pair of Sport-Fishing charters in one day – as long as I have my trusty First Mate Steve along.  Long day but very rewarding.  Nice group of local guys out for a bachelor party.  Congrats Corey and enjoy the wedding this coming weekend.  I am sure you will make the Lucky Lady the happiest woman in Allegan County.  Another successful afternoon.

Ended up catching Five Fish with the highlight being a last minute fourth and long catch of a 20.5 pound King Salmon.  With only three rods left in the water a speeding King took a low dipsy out only 100 feet in 80 foot of water.  He, yes he (where are these large males coming from – usually males are smaller than females), busted out on a heavy drag run for over 200 feet of line.  We were lucky to have only a couple more lines to reel in and backed down Florida Style to catch another lunker hooked in the corner of his mouth.  This always makes them more difficult as they go on a twisty roll that creates a lot more weight.  Good job on the line Nick.  Congrats Corey and have a happy marriage.

Always remember the Capts marriage advice that works for Fishing too.  If they are fighting go easy on the line, works for marriages too.  Ok I am not a marriage counselor but works for Fish.

One of My Longest Running Customers Has a Great Day and Excellent Catch Including a Large King Salmon

Finally after years of fishing we have had a great day on the water with some of my favorite long term customers.  For years they have been coming up as a Family from Chicago, Memphis, and St. Louis.  Every year we have had heavy seas and uncomfortable conditions.

Thank the good Lord for providing us with an excellent day on the water with incredible fishing. Caught a bakers dozen but had to send a couple of the young ones back to grow up into Sandwich size. Continue reading

Our European Connection Catches Steelies and Kings

Friday was a great day on the water.  Beautiful weather and great fishing.  Nice Father and Two Sons out for their first Salmon Fishing Charter ever.  They were amazed at how much action we had compared to their Ocean fishing trips they had done in the past.  Frequent visitors to Saugatuck; however, this was their first outing.  Everyone had a great time and we were loaded with Silver Fish – Charter Captain Lingo for Kings and Coho Salmon and Steelhead.  I am sure they will be back to Fish during their next visit to Saugatuck.

Steelhead, Steelhead, and more Steelhead!!! Wow!!

What an unexpected day on the water.  Excellent fishing; but, where did the Kings go?  A great group of guys that fished with us earlier this season had their hearts set on catching big Kings.  I don’t think they were disappointed at all with this great catch of active acrobatic Steelhead.  We set up at 180 foot of water on a Southwest Troll when one of our fellow Charter captains decided to fish the same spot we wanted.  I adjusted course to a West Troll and what a difference that made.  Action, Action, Action all the way from 190 to 265 foot of water.  Non-stop Steelhead.  Managed to capture 15 fish today with 3 Kings, One Trout, and 11 Steelhead.  The later morning bite proved to be tough for us landing only two fish of our last 8 bites from 10:30 to 11:30 am.  I guess that is why they call it fishing and not catching.

One of the calmest nights of fishing this year…

A great Afternoon of fishing with a long time Friend and Customer.  For Five years we have had the pleasure of watching the family grow.  Now with the daughter newly married they still manage to get out for a day on the water.  How about that… Another large fish – 24 pounder.  Enjoy the rest of your vacation.
