It’s that time of the year again, boat work to get it ready for the spring and summer fishing seasons. Wax and bottom paint in the next couple of weeks. Definitely not my favorite part of the fishing season, but still a labor of love.
Now for the funny story – not one of my proudest moments. So last year the Starboard engine began using more oil than I was comfortable with between oil changes. I also had noticed an oily residue on the swim platform. So, after consulting with a few mechanic friends we decided that something must be wrong with the heads. So I began removing the heads the beginning of March. While working on the motors this thing on the front of the engine kept hitting me in the stomach. Of course, I never gave it a second thought until I had completely removed the heads. Then it occurred to me that the thing on the front of the engine is my oil cooler. Well that explains the excessive oil – leaky oil cooler. Well, now I have a complete head job and still need a new oil cooler – will be on order soon.
Hoping to be in the water the first or second week of April. As long as the snow is removed from the boat launch by then.
